Speaker Biography
Founded by Salvador Macías Corona and Magui Peredo Arenas in Guadalajara, Mexico, Estudio Macías Peredo exemplifies deep engagement with architecture through practice and pedagogy. Both founders are graduates of the Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara (ITESO), where they have taught architectural design for many years. In 2019, Diego Quirarte Contreras joined as a partner, further enriching the firm’s collaborative approach. Their projects reflect a profound connection to place and materiality, merging contemporary innovation with local traditions.

The firm has presented its work at prestigious institutions worldwide, including Columbia University, the University of Washington, the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and at global forums such as the Pan-American Biennial of Architecture in Quito and the Venice Biennale of Architecture. Their accolades include the 2014 Emerging Voices prize from the Architectural League of New York and recognition as finalists in the Emerge category of the 2018 MCHAP at IIT Chicago. Their participation in exhibitions like Designing Mexico at Mantovarchitettura 2019 and their work’s acquisition by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art underscore their international influence.

Estudio Macías Peredo’s thoughtful practice is documented in their 2017 monograph, To Still the Noise (Arquine), which captures the essence of their architectural philosophy. Beyond their projects, the firm cocurates Jardín 17, an architectural exhibition space at Casa Estudio Luis Barragán in Mexico City, further extending their impact on architectural discourse.
